This process of coming into school leadership has been a rollercoaster of emotions. I have faced great successes and much rejection. There were moments when I considered quitting and just staying comfortably in my present position. But I am here through the encouragement and kindness of those in my cohort, my mentor, and friends and family who believed I could make it to this point. I will be beginning my new job at Warren G. Harding Middle School in the Fall of 2022, and I could not be more pleased. It is a learning community where I will have the space to grow and learn as a school leader. I am thankful for how I faced rejection this year. It was horrible, and I was not too fond of it, but it challenged me to consider if this path was right for me. In the end, it allowed me to practice the very thing that all leaders will inevitably come against, persevering through the trials and tribulations and keeping one's faith and hope alive in the mists of it all.
I leave here with a greater understanding of educational leadership but, more importantly, a greater sense of self. The friends, mentors, instructors, and fellow school leaders I have bonded with this year will follow me every day I journey through this adventure of school leadership. I find calm and peace in knowing that we continue to serve side-by-side in this work.
